Local committee

The National High School Journalism Convention wouldn’t be possible without the help of the local committee.

Committee chairs

Ben Langevin, CJE is the cinema production teacher and journalism adviser for Oviedo HS in Oviedo, FL. He advises the Oviedian yearbook, Courage newsmagazine and online media, WROR TV broadcast, Digital Lion Production media teams. He serves as the JEA Florida state director and previously served as FSPA President. He received the JEA Rising Star in 2022. He’s been teaching for 12 years in both high school and middle school. 

Brit Taylor is a yearbook, newspaper and website adviser in Oviedo, Florida at Hagerty High School. He has advised yearbook for 33 years and newspaper for 28. Taylor is drawn to the real-world application of high school journalism, and he appreciates the many lessons that publications teach. He is a past president of the Florida Scholastic Press Association and a Distinguished Adviser for JEA, and his publications have earned Pacemaker and Crown awards. When he is not teaching workshops in Florida or beyond, Taylor likes to visit national parks with his wife, Maureen, and three kids.
